I always find this an interesting one. The hypotheticals if Anakin stayed good.

It could be argued that if Anakin "stayed good", the Empire would have reigned for far longer, even in perpetuity. It was Darth Vader after all who ended Palpatine. If Anakin didn't turn he likely would have been killed and not been in position in ROTJ to betray Palpatine.

You would have to ignore that Palpatine would have been blown up on the second death star anyway though, but presumably events would have transpired very differently post ROTS with this major change

Guess it depends how the whole arrest would pan out if Anakin didn’t attack Mace. Would they actually be able to get him? If so what could even be done with the power he had over the senate? Would he still have been able to execute order 66?

Well if Anakin didn't attack Mace either Palpatine would have been killed right then, or Palpatine would have handled it all differently based on the theory that Palpatine allowed Mace beating him to happen to convince Anakin the Jedi were wrong

Mace might have killed Palpatine there. He was supposed to be one of the strongest among the Jedi.

I think Anakin was always going to turn to the dark side though. Fear ruled him constantly, much like it did Sangakkara whenever faced with a mirror less room.

@kyear2 is easily the one who's done the least damage. The more nonsensical arguments he makes about imran the higher many posters seem to rate him because they go through imran's record and realize he's even better than they previously thought.

Kirk did secure peace with the Klingons, overcoming his own prejudice after the murder of his son.

If we're including fighting the Borg, we need to put Janeway in the mix.

Kirk is a better military commander. Picard was often so peace friendly he put the Enterprise at risk.

But Picard just embodies the spirit of the Federation more. It's exploration and multilateralism, not military conquest.

So getting back on topic.

When I got back on the forum in the early 2020s, and really started the process of making ranking lists and researching older players I used to have Curtly Ambrose top 3, 4 bowlers all time. Now I would say he pretty clearly stands alone, but solidly at the number 6 spot, for mine.

I just really don't feel like giving subz too much credit for that though so I didn't vote for him and went Coronis instead.

If Palpatine gets arrested, I'm pretty sure Matthew Stover's Revenge of the Sith novel clearly had a whole section dedicated to showing how Palpatine had already done all the planning for a trial where he would argue the Jedi forcefully arrested him on a basis of "differing religion" IE him being a Sith and he'd use that to win the trial and announce Jedis as religious fanatics who tried to take over, a Civil War would come and Order 66 would happen all the same but if Anakin doesn't turn, he dies too.
