Root is an all time great batsman and is deserving of 3rd place on the all time greatest run scorers list but he still needs to score a test ton in Australia.

He probably only has ten chances left with the next Ashes tour, assuming that he gets to bat twice in all 5 tests down under.

Great chance for Pope as well as he too has scored against 8 different test playing nations but never Australia.

I think Pope will be the first Englishman to join the list of batsmen who have done so too.
