Ranji, Spofforth and Lohmann are guarantees imo.
I'll go for Shrewsbury as well, 5th is either between the above mentioned guys or Blackham is a good shout too imo

Ranji, Spofforth, Lohmann, Shrewsburry and Turner are easily the top 5 excluding Grace. Then one of Stanley Jackson, Allan Steel and Hugh Trumble does for me.

Can't mention Billy Barnes without Billy Bates

(And what happened to that MoTS Thread??)
Life and too much effort. I got stuck writing up a Triangular Tournament post and then have kinda moved on. Remind me again sometime and I might come back to it

Not sure about Ferris tbh
You are right. Ferris might be closer to Turner than we think. Here's something from the tour report of The Australians in England, 1890.

"...Perhaps we shall not be wrong in saying that while Turner maintained his reputation, Ferris increased very considerably the high opinion that our cricketers and the cricket public had previously formed of him. When the wickets were really hard and true, the left-handed bowler certainly proved himself more generally effective than his famous colleague, and even when the grounds were wet and false he was able to hold his own. In the pages that follow, the doings of the great bowlers are set forth in such full detail that we need not here discuss them at length, but we will commit ourselves to the positive opinion that among the long list of Australian bowlers who have visited this country since 1878, Turner and Ferris will take rank next to Spofforth..."
