And those overs would be 8-10 overs max per inns... That too mostly with the older ball
No. Miller can occasionally take the new ball if needed. That's the variety the attack offers.

And he is bowling way more than 10 overs if it's a pace friendly or green wicket. They aren't going to need to hand it to Murali.

No Kimber mentioned this keeping if I recall.

What other point, on number 8s? You know he indicated he prefers Imran for his ATG XI, right?

He isn't taking the new ball over Ambrose and Barnes. And yes if it's a green wicket he'd be helpful. Also on that low scoring green wicket, Kallis' extra batting would be very useful and so would Knott taking the higher% of chances created

Second new ball I do see him being used. And of course in the event any pacer gets injured or he needs a rest he can step in without reducing quality. He just gives so many bowling options.

Kallis I don't think is the type to really thrive down the order. And his extra bowling isn't as useful with Hammond already there.

Miller is much more likely to thrive in this ATG setup than Kallis.

Yeah no. He has multiple tons at a 70+ SR, fifties at over 100, all he did was bat as the match situation warranted.
That's not his usual MO. And shielding the lower order and hitting out towards the end wasn't his usual MO.

You are literally shoehorning him in an odd fit at no.6 where an aggressive bat to change the pace is more suitable or a Waugh/Chanders type to bat until the end who are experts at batting with the tail.

As opposed to trying to shoehorn a specialist #3 into keeping when he specifically didn’t like keeping at this level and batting at #6….

@kyear2 wouldn't you agree that having Hammond drastically reduces the need for Kallis and even if you don't want Miller, you might as well vote the next best bat like Headley in the top 6?
