Top five asian batsman in test cricket

Sliferxxxx

State Vice-Captain
Javed has much better record vs eng and nz. Kohli had atleast one poor series in every country except sa. Also don't rate maindad's hundred in 88 vs wi because Marshall missed the match
That hundred still came vs Walsh and Ambrose and he scored a 2nd ton vs Ambrose, Marshall and Walsh at Kensington. Excellent series overall.

Nah. Which teams was Sanga missing against?
I should have used different words. Not being the heavy scorer for him team rather than missing.

Both have played pretty much same amount of tests home and away. They played at the same time. I felt when watching SL tests that Jaya carried the team rather than Sanga against better teams.

Sanga has some better momorable knock away and that gets extrapolated too much, but Sanga did not score that much higher away as well,

But at home, Jaya simply was at another level compared to Sanga,

That is a small sample size though then, vs top teams away from home.
Excluding Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, he only played 27 away tests (non keeper)
Yes, I am aware of that, that's why I think Dravid goes above Sanga, but not by much either way.

Sanga didn’t play much in SENA countries
S : 5 Tests. 543 runs @ 60.
E : 11 Tests. 862 runs @ 41.
N : 6 Tests. 549 runs @ 61
A : 8 Tests. 572 runs @ 35

Jaya was definitely a tier above Sanga (and Dravid) vs spin imo
Yes, he often gets overlooked, but his batting contribution at home against non-minnows ( 6-7K runs and avg around 60 ) was intrumental in SL doing so well at home. I would say only below Murali when it comes to carrying the team at home. A fantastic player of spin.

Jaya has one of the worst away records.
Avg 27 in NZ.
Avg 27 in SA.
Avg 31 in Aus.
Avg 35 in Eng.

He was a beast at home though.
