All-Time World XIs: Discussion Thread

Um no. You are lost in history. Stay in the past. No one is being humbled. If you think you are humbling anyone online, you are living a fantasy. You can't change the opinions of the majority. Your opinion or my opinion doesn't matter.
The opinion of the majority is they rate stuff they've seen, that's why James Anderson makes more pundit and Cricketers XIs than Michael Holding, it literally means nothing. You're being slapped here because all your arguments simply got thrown out the window, leaving you a crying mess about the majority that doesn't exist.

Yeah all the top batters and top bowlers, by ranking, have made it.

Half of us would have liked someone like Imran/Akram as the 3rd seamer but Marshall, Hadlee and McGrath are undoubtedly CW's top 3 bowlers.
Think more than half really. But yeah, the other thread where we chose the ideal trio was quite definitive.

Only a rare few cricketers are remembered across time.

From before the Second World War, names like Barnes, O’Reilly, Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Bradman and Hammond still surface.

Even then, it’s mostly among the hardcore fans. The average cricket fan probably has no idea about any cricketer in the first 75 years of game except Don.
What's your point? Average cricket fans only watch IPL.

Even the 'above average' cricket fans, pundits, experts don't give a f about the first 75 years.

Just like in football or other sports. Games have evolved leaps and bounds.

Hint – Football fans don't think someone from 70s or 80s are GOAT level either, but you worthless ****s do that with Cricket. Either The current top guys are the best Cricketers ever or you take all of history into account.

Absolutely agree btw.

It's only a tiny tiny fringe of the most hardcore of fans who don't see it this way.

like I say

All of history? Bradman and Hobbs are the greatest.

sports evolution theory? Smith and Root are the greatest.

Sorry, zero room for Bumchin Tendulkar.

You don't make the rules.

Unable to accept the harsh truth?

Lara, Viv, Smith, Hutton all similar. But like Grace is Grace and Imran is a better player and adds extra skillset to the team.
Like do you legit not notice that players like Viv also brings an extra skill set to the team, one that's just as valuable? And more importantly, with less drop off in primary?

Grace would mp get voted in the third XI, after the 4 ATG openers are done...
Imagine Grace and Barry get voted together
Well they're both getting in based primarily on FC, seems fair.

basically 70s pacers did the exact same thing older great bowlers did with Leg Theory but people have a ***ual urge for Lillee so they try to pretend he did something new. Not a single bowler in the 70s or 80s did anything new except Imran Khan with reverse swing. They just did what was already there with restrictions on bouncers.
You yourself said Lillee enjoyed targeting bats in a way Trueman didn't.
