Favorites of all time? Tough, but I've got quite a lot that I enjoy listening to. Some are not alive today. I'll list them by country:

England - Jonathan Agnew/Henry Blofeld (TMS), Mark Nicholas, David Gower, David Lloyd, Nasser Hussain, Mike Atherton, Isa Guha, Tony Greig

Australia - Ian Chappell, Richie Benaud, Mike Haysman (although he mostly commentates in South Africa), Bill Lawry, Ricky Ponting, Mel Jones

India - Harsha Bhogle, Ravi Shastri

Sri Lanka - Kumar Sangakkara

West Indies - Tony Cozier, Ian Bishop

South Africa - Shaun Pollock

Zimbabwe - Pommie Mbangwa

Pakistan - Wasim Akram

New Zealand - Ian Smith, Simon Doull

Least favorites? Sanjay Manjrekar, Sunil Gavaskar (used to like him earlier. Too reactionary these days), Ramiz Raja, Athar Ali Khan, Ian Ward, Ian Healy, Mark Waugh, Russel Arnold

In the past - Benaud, Cozier.

Of the current old guard - Nas top for me. Athers insightful but on the smug side for me.

Broad, McGrath showing promise. Also like Mel Jones.

As a national commentary team, NZ are the worst. Too jokey, as if they're actually trying to be another random lads with a mic podcast.

Atherton and Nasser Hussain. Great vibes allround: knowledge, pacing, timbre, presentation, amiability. Hands down the best pair commentating in these last twenty years.

Ian Bishop's good but a bit too stiff-collared for my liking. The Aussie Skeletor is good when he's not being overly jokey but that's his schtick I suppose.

That's it really.

I've really enjoyed listening to Ravi Shastri on Sky Sports this summer
He's mellowed down a LOT. He's obviously a good time and still puts across like he's the skinny Ravi driving the Audi in '85 but beneath the bluster you can tell it's a guy who's been at this gig for decades now.

Spot on about Nas and Athers. They have been my favs for years too.

I agree with your view about Bishop.Knows the technicalities well but I find him a tad earnest.
