*Official* India tour of England 2025 General Discussion

Cricketer Of The Year
10-12 overs per innings + his batting
would be better than anything NKR and Thakur have to offer.

But he's done with test cricket. If they had made him LO captain, he could have been convinced to play some tests too. No chance now.

Really interesting how India went from an incredibly strong side mentally ~2-3 years ago to... whatever this is now. Such a sudden decline in a team mentality.

Had this side played in the 20-21 BGT they doubtless would have been blown out of the water, not because of the difference in talent but because of mental fragility alone.

Yeah that's what I meant. No problem with his antics on Day 3 but he has no leg to stand on if it affects his game to that extent.
To be honest, I think its still early days for him and he will get better at all this. What was not acceptable was the way we batted in the last session two days in a row, both on day 3 and day 4.

My worry is he obviously focused incredibly hard to iron out those extreme chinks in his batting in the first two Tests but literally every one of them was back as soon as he was under the pump. And no, there was no extravagant movement here which we knew to be his kryptonite. Be fascinating to see if and how he subdues those issues again.

I mean, there was such a quick turnaround between the tests too. Its not like he had too much time but the game is a great leveller and if he really is to become a great batsman, he will figure it out. And I think he will.

Yeah people just bash Virat but man did that Virat-Shaz era make this side tough.

It was by far their most impressive trait IMO. Very different sort of self-confidence to the sort Gambhir seems to be pushing too.
Look, I would still give GG the series to figure this out as this is really the first series where he is calling the shots. But so far, the indications are, he is a far better white ball coach than red ball. India need to get more ruthless with the bat and that starts with Jaiswal and Nair getting their acts together. Gill was obviously praised to the moon and you kinda expect a "crash back to earth" kind of match after the last one. It would really tell us the character of this side and this management, the way they come back from this for the rest of the series.
