Lara would never lose the record, he'd just pay cricketers to declare, happened with Warner and now with Mulder.

Bolo.

International Captain
He has improved loads over the last 2 seasons. Picked up a yard & has the nippy action that hits you quicker than you think. With a bit of nip (swing and seam) he is an interesting prospect as he is different to what we got.
He still looks poor to me, at least in relation to the talent we have that isn't playing.

I didn't watch him bowl a single ball in the first test FTR.

Thoughts?

Mark Taylor declared when he was on 334*
Clarke retired at 329*
Warner retired at 335*
Mulder at 367*
I mentioned these three because there was no cricketing logic behind these declarations. These players simply didn't want to have a World Record next to their name. Clarke had 2.5 days to bowl India out just once but declared. Warner's case Australia declared after only 127 overs in 1st innings. And Mulder after 114 overs. Even more ridiculous lol.

Michael Clarke.

Clarke declared halfway into day 3.
Match finished after tea on day 4.
India deserved to be punished more resoundingly.

He is a fair bit down the pecking order but I used to think urgh what a shitty action but I think that is part of his strength. He definite;y has a little something. Seen him swing it, seam it and surprise batsmen and hit them on the head with a nippy bouncer. Didn't think he had those abilities until the last couple of years. Had a good spell at Durham and also impressed me with his 50-over bowling last season (including death bowling).

I bet given how good the bats are, size of boundaries, hitting capabilities of modern batters as well as pace of modern cricket, no individual record is safe on a road and should be broken in the next 10-20 years. And once someone gets like 404*. Someone else should push it to 425* and so on. Natural evolution.
