AUS are on big trouble in the next few years once they start losing bowlers.
Nope

There’s bound to be some drop off as the current attack is one of the best in history but we literally have a conveyor belt of quality bowlers

It’s the batting that’s the issue

That U/19's crop might legitimately be our saving grace. There's 6-7 players I think can turn into long-term international cricketers. Couple of serious guns a bit younger than them too.

We have some sly AR options too. Jack Edwards, Will Sutherland and Aaron Hardie (as long as the selectors have finished trying to ruin him) who might give us the opportunity of playing 5 bowlers, which would assist Cummins.
We need to get Green back bowling. He has, or had, the makings of an actual front line fast bowling option. Would take the pressure off his batting a bit too.

I'm genuinely one or two strong innings away from going Peake > Konstas. It's ridiculous to say about a bloke who has played one (1) Shield game but every time I've watched him I've thought "this kid is on the fast track for national honours".

Morris, Bartlett, Doggett, McAndrew, O’Neill, Kuhnemann, Rocchiccioli, etc

Cummins is also only 32 & the myth that is Jhye Richardson is only 28
Two guys already over 30, I still feel like Morris is a bit of a myth, Bartlett can't seem to stay fit and not sure O'Neill has the wheels to be in contention.

Like there's a lot of decent guys coming through, but it feels very late 2000's/early 2010's in quality where there are plenty of decent bowlers but a lack of great ones.

That Cummins should still have 3-4 years in him does help though and by then I could see a Vidler putting his hand up to be the next big thing.

Yeah everything I've heard and seen of him suggests something special. He is going places.

Haha yeah. Made a 50 in that game didn't he. Looks solid

Who? All the current Shield bowlers are not of the Fab four quality(cummins, starc, hazewood and boland).

Doggett- the main back up is injured. The next big thing Jhye is always injured. The guys like Neser, are too old. Then theres Fergus o Neill but hes medium pace. Also Nathan McAndrew but hes already 32 years old. Bird, great bowler, but medium pace and already 38. Steketee, who would be next cab off the rank, hes 32. Jack Edwards, but hes medium pace all rounder though. Joel Paris, good left armer but hes 32 and only medium pace. Will Sutherland, promising but injury prone- another all rounder type, hes not more than medium pace.

Lance Morris-hes very fast, brett lee pace, but constantly injury prone. Xavier Bartlett, same injury prone, hes quick and good but only for ODIs.

Sean Abbott- the main back up reserve, hes already well into his 30s and hes fairly medium speed only as well.

Australia’s current attack is arguably the best in history so naturally there will be a drop off but our backups would be a top 3 attack in world cricket right now

Look at the India v England test right now

If Doggett (hero of the Shield final) can get fit, and some of the above younger, faster quicks can get fit for Test cricket(e.g. Jhye, Morris, Bartlett) then yes, it is world class. Doggett is first in line.

Doggett can really move the ball around here, nice action. Shame hes injured right now.

Also options in Will Sutherland, Jack Edwards, McAndrew, Paris(left arm) and Steketee who are good Shield cricketers.

Spin not an issue - got reasonable stocks with Rocchiccioli and Kuhnemann - Kuhnemann excellent in SL and Rocchiccioli good in Shield.

Issue is mainly fitness - whether they can get on the park consistently. the Big four werent injured too often(only Hazlewood primarily was injury prone)

re batting, i cant see Konstas, Khawaja and Green(especially if he fails here) lasting too much longer at Test level. Their techniques all been exposed, Khawajas issue is age- hes 38.

They should debut some new batters for the Ashes. Jake Weatherald and Sangha could try opening or #3, - Sangha is only 25 and the future, was good in Shield recently and deserves a go, atleast at #3. Kurtis Patterson, could get a recall as well for #3, although hes a bit too old at 32.

Weatherald seems in line for an Ashes debut given his recent Shield form.

I think Bartlett is much the same speed as the blokes halba calls medium paced so I wonder why he gets a pass and the other don't?
