For all the discussions about them being terrible, they still don't lose much though. Wtc yes but they did beat NZ and SL away who tend to beat most visiting teams and they did beat India aswell all in the past 18 months.

What I'm saying is that the truly terrible period has not upon us yet. Say in 4 years the bowling attack will be gone along with Smith and Head will be closing in on 36. Current side would look gold from that POV
I mostly agree, But, firstly: I honestly thing we are a worse team than we were even 18 months ago.
And secondly: even in that time our wins have been closer than they look on paper. NZ was a challenge, despite the 2-0 outcome. Pakistan at home had us in a lot of trouble! And they are awful here. We drew with a bad WI side that same summer. And India could have probably gone either way at times. We generally got the results but we fought every step of the way

Ehhhh I think in hindsight that was a pretty one-sided series only made vaguely competitive by one guy.

He bowled one of the best new ball spells on a raging turner in Pakistan with no other pacers in sight. He performed well on flat decks in England with their dukes as well. His one match in Australia was when he was injured, he really shouldn't be judged in that. He has taken wickets against Australia, Pakista , England and South Africa so far.

So I get the premise, but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. The guy is amazing.
Yes. This year tour would be best chance wi have to win a test in india for first time since 1994. Jaiswal pant and gill vs seals and shamar😍

We would have won at mcg if jaiswal not dropped marnus and at scg if bumrah didnt breakdown😟. Bgt was lot closer then end result

Neither of these are so obvious as to merit "would have won", especially the second.

But it also doesn't matter. Like, yes, India would have been better if Jaiswal could catch. He can't, so they weren't.
Yeah but just shut up man India would have won though

If not bumrah at least if we had third fast bowler we would have won at scg. After bumrah broke down we were missing third seamer and if indeed had third seamer would have defended 160 on that spicy wicket

This is also in the realm of "probably not actually true, let alone obviously true"

Remember when your side drops catches and have injuries it is a great injustice that deprived them of glory. But if it happens to the other side then sucks to be them and they shouldn't rely on random fate anyway.

Bumrah's injury was also probably the injury least attributable to bad luck in the history of the game, literally everyone saw that coming.

Particularly if India continue to do very stupid things like not play Kuldeep.
They'll most likely be fine at home playing Axar and Washington together (once Jadeja goes). It will be one of the least interesting spin attacks ever to play though.

Well I'd rather that than losing. Wickets are more helpful now so you get closer games. Plus you completely missed out hammering Sri Lanka at galle of all places after they thrashed nz who then went on to win in India. My point being, they've been mostly getting the job done up to now which won't be the case in a few years time.

What are the odds of today's first wicket not being the night watchman?

WI has a real chance. The lower order aught to fail for once
