Didn't Kuldeep play a series in England way back? If I remember right he caused all sorts of problems for one or two games and then England figured out how to play him and he was largely innocuous after that.We have to leverage our strengths. In Kuldeep, similar to Bumrah, we have an ace that England can't hope to match (imagine the combination they would've made on the dry Headingley wicket). I fully believe it's a karmic crime keeping him out and we'll continue losing in hapless fashion until he's a permanent member of the XI.
Not really. He played a single test at Lord's in 2018 when it was a spinner's graveyard and took an expensive 0/44. The last test he played against England was in Dharamsala, with match figures of 7/112. Only played thirteen tests in total, which is pretty unforgivable.Didn't Kuldeep play a series in England way back? I would play Washington Sundar at No.3 ..I would go Jurel/Akash/Kuldeep in for Bumrah/Sai/Shardul (assuming Bumrah misses this game). I don't see the point in ditching Prasidh this quickly, he's still only played 4 Tests.
2-0 englandBumrah likely to miss 2nd test according to some reports.
7) Jadeja/Reddy
8) Arshdeep/Kuldeep
9 Akashdeep
10) Prasidh
11) Siraj
They do actually need to take wickets, which won't be helped by sacrificing a bowler from an already weakened attack.Wouldn't you want to lengthen the batting in Bumrah's absence?
They're in a pickle. A previous poster suggested Sundar at 3. I suppose he could come in for a batsman and Reddy is benched again so they can stick with Prasidh. That still leaves the tail a little long but would give them Akashdeep, Siraj, Prasidh and Kuldeep supported by Jadeja and Sundar. Yes Thakur should go.They do actually need to take wickets, which won't be helped by sacrificing a bowler from an already weakened attack.
Surely Thakur has to miss out though. If nothing else, Gill clearly has little faith in him with the ball.
