1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

King Kane

International Vice-Captain
A good first day for India but I still can't understand why Stokes chose to bowl first when it looked like a good day for batting.

It's not like England had a lethal bowling arrack either, they opened the bowling with Woakes who is a first change bowler at best,

Where is Atikinson, Stone and Wood? Are they injured or are they saving them for the Ashes, Stokes was their best fast bowler today.

you do realise that you need spicy pitches for 25 in 3 to remotely be possible?
Actually I think in flat tracks I have a better shot. In spicy ones even Prasidh and Shardul can get a few, but in these roads Bumrah will have to really perform if India has any chance to all out England.

Injured. Atleast Atkinson, Wood and Archer are.

I mean if it comes down to that then England will win the game, Bumrah can't take 10 alone, he isn't Muralitharan

Can't recall a worse England bowling attack than this from my living memory. They really need one of Archer or Wood to make it competent
Yeah the bowling is still a big Work-In-Progress, Atkinson/Carse/Woakes/Stokes would usually get the job done in England but I don't understand this persistance with Bashir, ball just doesn't spin in SENA anymore.

The Wheel is Forever
Kohli's decline was very sad to watch and almost unbelievable in the 2020's , his biggest fans were in denial for so long too ..
Eventually he came to his senses and retired.
Yes, it took a lot longer than I had hoped for them to figure it out. I do think they cost us the Australia series. I was calling for both of their retirements for several years now. Whatever it was, it seemed terminal for both for a while.

Kohli especially was very sad to watch given how much importance he placed on Test cricket - and his continuing support and dedication to keeping Test cricket supreme is something I will be most grateful for (even more than his batting at his best). He was a much better batsman than the 46 average he ended up with.

His average in October of 2019 was 55, after 81 Tests!

Then a bunch of things happened - his batting got a lot worse along with the fact that batting in general got a lot harder (especially in India), which overall just tanked his overall figures.
