Unless his overall record is more underwhelming than you expected, this is a good thing. Away record will always be a more accurate reflection of a player's quality than home.
It's more underwhelming than I expected.

I believe part of Roberts’ rating is him being the first of that generation of Windies pacers, that legacy that continued through til the end of Walsh’s career.

I agree that it is true in 9/10 cases but I think historically there have been exceptions, Mostly cases where the home wickets are actually some of the most unproductive/difficult in the world for a Cricketer's primary but away are much more productive for their primary disciplines, like if you reversed Ken Barrington's and Ted Dexter's home and away record I'd rate them higher.
Is there a single exception with a decent sample size? I think 9/10 is severely underselling it.

There are a plethora of reasons for a player being better at home.

The only reasons I can think of for a player being better away are:

1. Conditions were really tough at home for players of a similar style.
2. Their home conditions were not a match for their stengths (or opposition stengths), even if we expect it to be as per point 1.

Either way, how would you expect a player with a banging away record to have performed if they weren't unlucky enough to be born in the wrong country?

No, I knew it was very good.
Almost identical to Rabada statistically away, including number of years played.

I prefer Andy away to date, cos I reckon he had it tougher for a few reasons. Rabada is a long way at home though, despite how stupidly easy he has had it in RSA.

Rabada is the best.

Roberts was high quality but played in an era where if you can bowl fast and short stuff, batters will find it tough. Anderson is more skillful and arguably better than him because he can make life tougher to batters wearing helmet and do it again and again for two decades although more prominently in swinging and seaming conditions.

Who would round out a female top 5? In no particular order I think Court/Graff/Navratilova/Williams have to be locks

Wasn’t the most impressive part of her career beating a 55 year old bloke
It was, but tbf to her he demolished Graaf just a few months(?) prior. OTOH though, I am not sure Riggs didn't threw the game away as well.

(Kinda funny to think the only reason we remember Riggs is not really for what he achieved in his career but beating Graaf and losing to BJK in his mind 50s)
