Only place where people would be guaranteed to actually watch both in the stadium and on TV, plus we’re not at war with one of the participants. Moving it to another country would also mean they’d have to move it to another time of year
I think this is key. Test cricket is popular enough in England, and we have large communities from all the other test nations, that we can probably guarantee a full or near full ground for most of the match. Even Australia and India frequently play Tests at home to empty stadia, would be a bad look for a final to be played in such an environment.

Plus in terms of time zones, we are as suitable as anyone, West Indians might miss the start of the game, Aussies and Kiwis would have to pull an all-nighter to catch all of it, but games in England are at pretty much the perfect time for Africa and a decent time for Asia

Asia is better time zones–wise (sorry WI).
