Do you rate Gilchrist as the 3rd Greatest cricketer ever? If not, why?

I can just about justify choosing Gilly, as the question is "better" rather than "greater". I think Gilly's skillsets were a better combination than Tendulkar's, just about.

In an ATG team, I can replace Sachin with Richards, Smith, Lara and I am not really losing that much.
In an ATG team, if I replace Adam Gilchrist with any other keeper; I am definitely losing out on a great WK batsman since he is the only logical choice.

Sangakkara is not the type to play 7
I do think a No. 7 batter is far more replaceable, especially if you're more focused on any of their other skills. Gilchrist being left out isn't going to be that debilitating when he's coming after 5/6 ATG batters, you could easily have someone who isn't as good a batter in there.

You guys keep saying this, but THE definitive XI of all time has Knott over him. Willis, Greig, Boycott all have other keepers over him.
This is a literal quite from the Cricinfo team.
To say he doesn't have competition isn't based in fact.

Gilchrist is the popular choice, but not an overwhelming one such as Warne. Becuse of philosophical differences, there will always be some who will go with the better pure gloveman who can also bat. And there's definitely options.
He's definitely no more irreplaceable than Hobbs, Marshall or Tendulkar.

He's not the only logical choice.
The wicketkeeper in wk batsman comes first for a reason.
I don't think people remember that even with how good Gilchrist was, there was a noticeable drop off when Healy retired.
He wasn't messy, he wasn't a Flower or Browne or Pant, but he sure as hell wasn't Healy.

Sachin easily ranks higher in my rankings, primary skills trumps. And there Sachin is at worst top 5, and I don't know how far down Gilly would rank among keepers tbh. Even as a batsman he doesn't make top 50.
I have Sachin 8th, Gilly closer to 20th I think. Definitely 2nd tier among the ATG's, not in the top echelon tier with Sachin and co.
