I’ve been thinking and I might find it silly to say “not even close” in most ATG comparisons outside Bradman. Though there may be a case such as say McGrath/Anderson that would contradict that line of thinking. Obviously not here though.

there are quite a few matches between ATGs where I'd reckon saying not even close is fine.

For most of these guys, if you are going to put them in a team together, the one we see as clearly and indisputably better will probably be performing better in a match 55% of the time, and the worse one 45%.

I do make an exception for the top tier ARs though, who might be performing better in secondary 80%++ of the time in relation to a specialist. Those comparisons are seldom close for me.

I'd also say "it's not even close"
when Viv gets conpared to top ten candidates, like Steven Smith
I think Viv is better than Smith, strike rate is also important,
High strike rate means very high impact.

Close can easily mean that it's a discussion in your mind and you struggle to name a winner of the comparison.

Not close simply means that it's an easy decision in your mind and you don't struggle to name a decisive winner.
