a lot of words for no real argument about who of the three is the brs

Sobers v Smith at 14-10 closer than I thought

None of the sides are interested in pressing arguments so
Sachin over Sobers - more accomplished away IMO and the 90s more bowling friendly

Sachin over Smith - longevity

Sobers and Smith is hard to say, will need to see where Smith ends up

for me

Sobers vs Sachin – Sobers has more mega serieses and a greater peak (70+ avg for 10 years), Sachin had a better away record but Sobers substantially more dominant at home, Sachin faced better bowling but Sobers dominated ATGs more universally. would go Sobers overall as I don't value longevity that much

Sobers over Smith – pretty much the above, but Smith more achieved away from home imo, but again, we put diffetent values on longevity

Away performances matter more as we agree that Sobers had really flat pitches at home. Tendulkar faced more ATGs and had a few he did dominate like Warne and Steyn. Sobers didn't dominate all ATGs he faced anyways.

Sobers still has longevity advantage over Smith but to me it's very close between them.

Yeah but the gap in home performances is also significantly higher, and what great/ATG did Sobers face that he did not have great output against?

Smith has atg series (17 bgt) vs two atvg spinners he faced(ash and jadeja) but became ashwin`s bunny in 20/21 and 23 bgt
LoL, Ashwin took his wickets only during the 2nd test, and that too in extreme foggy conditions where players like Brook would refuse to play cricket.

Sachin had flat pitches at home as well. And you say Sobers didn't dominate "all" the ATGs he faced, neither did Sachin. Sachin still probably slightly better but the flat wicket thing with Smith and Sobers is overstated. Sachin's home wickets were just as flat.

There weren’t that many good bowlers during Sobers prime

Sachin had Sobers’ career where he was better (and the best bat in the world in the best era for bowling) and then a whole second career where he was a top 5 bat

now you’re just making things up. Indian pitches were not high scoring in the 90s as most visiting teams can attest

Sachin also barely played against 90s ATGs during his prime.

Yeah, but those he got (Davidson, Lillee, Trueman), he averaged very high against.
