Only shane warne's quotes are genuine praise ,
The rest are just trying to appease the Indian masses ,
Indian journalist asked them such akward questions and they forcefully answered them ( in other words overreacting).
Similarly you can see rohit sharma, virat kohli etc are getting goat shout from some old generation players on regular basis.

You really don't want to get into a fight of quotes with a guy whom his opposition described like this.

tbf about that 55 series. Johnston could barely bowl. Benaud hadn’t done anything quality in tests yet and Miller and Johnson were almoshed.

It was a very high scoring series on both sides. iirc Benaud scored more than Sobers in fewer innings. Sobers was the 5th highest Windies runscorer.

Sure good for him that he didn’t fail like Worrell. But lets not overhype it.
Nobody is overhyping anything. Someone stated he didn't face any atg fast bowling i simply replied with that example. But im curious to know why it's ok to overhype teenage Sachin but no one else because you and i both know it's happened. Like his 1992 series vs a middling Australia attack at 18. Their main bowlers were Hughes and McDermott. Please.

Bradman said that out of his own accord.
Lara said that when asked about who is the best batsman in the world according to him.
Andy flower said that in 03 wc, when asked about why he wasnt making more runs and he replied we are not Sachin Tendulkar, we make mistakes.
Mark Taylor again wasn't the case you're talking about.
Not really sure about the rest.

I believe you’ll find consistent history of me specifically not overhyping teenage Tendulkar.

It's not about the fact whether they were actually similar or not. It's about the fact Bradman himself thought they were. For the first time in over half a century, Bradman thought there was a guy who played like him.
I mean lets not even bother getting into a measuring match of how much x praised y and trying to use it as a useful measure of rating a player.

I'm not, I'm actually pretty against using peer rep to rate players, especially from the modern era whom I've seen live (or lots of footage of). The only point was Ashwin talking about Smith like that simply isn't the first instance. Great batters have been talked about in the past like that, sometimes in ever more glowing terms.
