Not sure on this one. Kapil is hard to rate.

He did do very well against the West Indies while Dravid kind of failed against Aus and SA

Dravid is respected highly but Kapil is a more celebrated cricketer.

In India, LOI cricket gets more value than tests as no body has time to watch batsman score at SR of 40 on flat subcontinent pitches where it mostly spins after a couple of days. England type conditions may have induced more test cricket fans in Asia but those conditions which are available in Asia mostly leads to boring cricket.

Kapil's legacy is huge because he brought cricket as centre of attraction in subcontinent by leading India to the World Cup win in 1983. Also, being a bowling all rounder, he gets an extra advantage because India really got a very rare bowling A/R in their history who would not only make the XI purely on their bowling but also their first choice option.

We're talking about Test cricketers here. Has to be Dravid in my mind for that. Kapil has stiffer competition for his role than Dravid, who I'd comfortably have as a top 20 all time bat.

Correct. Gavaskar ended up beating Akram although Ashwin beat Miandad. Bumrah might make the top 10 by now though.

I'd take Akram. Don't think Gavaskar is unequivocally better in their primary suits and Akram was a good no8.
