Just watched the ind vs sa 2015 1st test highlights ,
It felt like de villiers is getting out so many times (5-6 Times)
but somehow he managed to remains not out till the end (got out after 8-9 wickets fall )

Boycott.

averages about the same, but much longer career, faced tougher bowling, he opened while having low level batting behind him while De Villiers played at 5 with strong batting above him and a more bowler friendly era. Their playing positions and team context also perfectly counters their strike rate gap.

Boycott vs Gavaskar would be fun to see
When the going gets hard, there isn't much difference between the two. But when there were runs to be made, Gavaskar was one of the best ever to plunder, not that Boycott wasn't prolific in his own right on slower wickets but Sunny could dominate on them almost on the same level as Sachin without the aerial shots and therefore he has the clear edge.
