Youre average good SA pacer is going to be averaging near 25 in SA. It's just easier to get wickets.

Also keep in mind these are just stats, other things need to be kept in mind such as strength of the batting and bowling units and average opposition

That number for Steyn is surprisingly high considering RSA pitches and bowlers. And while the RSA batting was strong, their home averages were nothing special at all..

If he isn't a statistical quirk for some reason, it means we are overestimating the impact of pitches from an era on bowling records in relation to the quality of bats they were.bowling at.
