I'd take a punt on a Beau Webster. You know he's got the big game mentality. You wouldn't go renshaw? Two of his last 3 BBL season's have been fantastic, same with the marsh cup. He's an underrated middle order white ball bat atm.
Fun Fact: Renshaw in One Day Cup this season has 5 games, 283 runs @ 70.75, 1 hundred, 2 fifties (SR 120)You wouldn't go renshaw? Two of his last 3 BBL season's have been fantastic, same with the marsh cup. He's an underrated middle order white ball bat atm.
Very good point. International players play piss ant all 50 over cricket at any level, really. Kane Williamson played 12 games between World Cup cycles in 2019 and 2023 (and ridiculously hasn't been dismissed for single digits since Jan 19)Funny thing about ODI cricket these days is there's so little 50 over domestics, and what is there is often irrelevant, that you're geberally either picking the team off Test/FC form, or T20 form. And you have to make a call as to which translates better for each player and position
Maher was excellent in ODIBit of misleading comparison. It's not like this is a first choice line up. Would be like saying 25 years ago Australia had Elliott/Blewett/Maher. Which tbf is still better than this
He was ok. Only really got as many games as he did because he was shoe-horned in as back up keeper in 2003Maher was excellent in ODI
Australia had picked plenty of rubbish no 3s for random od series like this over the past few years though. Peter Forrest forced Ricky Ponting into od retirement 13 years ago!Finn Allen shits all over JFM and that's saying something.
I get it, I just don't like living in a world where we pick on some sort of hail mary promise. Batting 3 for Australia used to be the domain of kings
These selections make absolutely no sense. Where is Mitch Owen, the standout BBL player?or Tim David, who was outstanding in the BBL?Australia had picked plenty of rubbish no 3s for random od series like this over the past few years though. Peter Forrest forced Ricky Ponting into od retirement 13 years ago!
He's definitely in the XI, especially with Marsh and Green outThe way Carey is batting and keeping can he be dropped from starting line up ?
Yes that is odd , that's like Ponting batting at No.4 ..which just feels out of placeI don't know Why Steve Smith is still batting at no 4 in ODIs again, his Odi average at number 4 is only 35, for comparison his Odi average at 3 is 52.09 .
And his average at #3 in the past ~2 years is 35. His eyes aren't as good as they where in his peak, he can't play quality pace vs the new ball as competently. We saw this when he tried opening in tests and had to walk in early batting 4 on the more seam friendly Aussie decks recently.I don't know Why Steve Smith is still batting at no 4 in ODIs again, his Odi average at number 4 is only 35, for comparison his Odi average at 3 is 52.09 .
Oh dear Mr.Kraken what's going on here mate ?Yeah, I meant it as in this game will be over before Hardie's required to bat lol
Neser took an impressive 3-72 in the second innings to add to his 3-32 in the first, with Xavier Bartlett taking seven wickets across the match.
Both would be on the reserve list of bowlers for the 2025 ashes in November? Neser can bat.
Sam konstas in pretty dire form now. I doubt he will slot back. They are simply going to have to find someone else - Renshaw scored a ton, so hed be the top choice now as hes a natural opener against Pace.
