Chappell easily IMO. Far better rated and tested in his era, except for in the SC. His super test performances put him over the top.

The second half of Kallis' career was a higher scoring era than Chappell's with a far lower overall standard of fast bowling. He was also a huge minnow basher - if you ignore his performances against Bangladesh, West Indies and Zimbabwe, his record was clearly worse than Chappell.

I voted Kallis at first thinking it was the better player; if it's only as a batsman, then it's Chappell easily.
