Trent Boult opts out of New Zealand cricket contract

I dunno whether this is ironic or serious, or what...but here's the crazy thing.

We have lost ONE ODI since the World Cup final in 2019. We have lost one T20 series since last year's World T20 final effort, and swept the rest.

Yet NZ cricket is seen in the public and especially on here as in a sort of free-fall.

Why?

Because our Test game has been sub-par.

Is that something that suggests Test cricket is dying?
The bit in bold is key.

With so much easy league money available I don't see many pacers especially those whose game is quite suited to the 4 overs smash and grab stuff to commit to test cricket past 30.

Hasn’t NZ been barely scraping past Ireland and Scotland of late

Not Terrible
Definitely disappointing to not dominate but jamodis away aren't exactly ringing alarm bells for me

Yeah, but point being we hadn't lost much since 2021, when our approval rating was sky high, apart from Tests. This morning was the first non Test we'd lost this year. So I felt as if saying Trents decision indicated Test cricket is dying...well the fortunes of our Test side are still relevant
