WI comfortably and India probably ahead of England at producing middle order batsmen. Sobers, Richards, Lara, Headley I mean they are pretty close to Australia if not as good

I mean let's look at the top 10 of each

Aus

Bradman
Smith
Chappell GS
Ponting
Border
Waugh SR
Clarke
Harvey
Gilchrist
Walters

WI

Sobers
Richards
Lara
Headley
Chanderpaul
Walcott
Lloyd
Worrel
Richardson
Weeks

Maybe Australia slightly ahead

I'd replace Richardson with Kanhai personally. The thing with the WI though, is that it looks like we've just about hit a brick wall when it comes to producing even decent middle order batsmen. Even when Australia and England were at their lowest, they still produced Border, Dean Jones, Gower, Robin Smith etc. WI don't look close to having those types of prospects on the horizon.

Hmm

SA

Kallis
Proctor
Pollock
Faulkner
McMillan

England

Botham
Flintoff
Stokes
Grieg
Grace
Don't think this is simple

Dev
Ashwin
Jadeja
Mankad
Shastri

SA are definitely not a long way ahead. I suspect India are just ahead of SA to be honest. India's combined wickets per game looks like it might be overwhelming without working it out.

(Those 5 aren't necessarily the best for this for SA and England)

Spanners

Warne
O'Rielly
Grimmett
Benaud
McGill

Was not aware of the fact that Grimmett has 21 five fers and almost 80 additional wickets to O'Rielly (quite a lot at the time) and a better SR yet O'Rielly was universally regarded as the better bowler. Anyone know why?

India

Kumble
Ashwin
Chandrasekar
Prasanna
Jadeja

Tried to do Eng and Sl but couldn't think of five each

NZ are ahead of India:
Hadlee
Cairns
Reid
Oram
Vettori
De Grandhomme

Almost 3000 FC wickets at 18 with 240 five fers. Ofcourse those stats should be taken with a grain of salt given the era but I've been told that the Santa claus like mother ****er we normally associate as Grace was not the case in his younger days. He was fit and athletic individual who excelled at many sports like AB DeVilliers but unlike DeVilliers it was true

Athlai

Not Terrible
Would be a more fun exercise by decades.

Like 2010s

Spinners (Don't exist)

Surely propensity should take into account a regular flow? How are England ranking ahead of India in producing middle order bats?
