I think this generation batters are also hard done by DRS. In the past batters used to lunge forward without worrying about lbw. Thank god for umpires call otherwise there'll be more outs. If they want to see some runs scored in tests in future they'll have to do something about drs. Unless it's fully pitching in line, fully hitting in line and fully hitting the stumps should be not out. Otherwise we'll have to get used to under 200 scores every time pitch is a bit challenging.

If they have the balls to tell the more aggressive of their openers to do it, it can turn the game in half an hour. If they get out, the next bloke just bats normally.

good to see Ishant has come out to bat with the right gloves to face a part timer here, unlike Sydney 2008.

Crawley's runs have been such a game changer. We were very loose bowling to him yesterday in the first session, too many 4 balls. He was brilliant obviously but it did seem like our bowlers were chasing the magic ball a bit too much at that time. The seamers, especially.

Yeah it does have to be said that this pitch looks significantly harder to bat on than the last one. That Chennai deck had extravagant turn and some occasional extra bounce, but it was fairly slow and actually relatively predictable in how it behaved. This is notably unpredictable in that some will turn explosively and some will do basically nothing at all. Obviously though the batting from both sides has been... not the best.

Pujara used to make runs batting on decks like this batting like he always does. Obviously most batsmen can't do that.
