Australia first innings this series - 467, 416, 454. Same match on repeat imo.

But decent effort with the ball today. Astle's shown that he does deserve to be around the squad at least - belied his lack of cricket with pretty good control.

Think Latham can feel reasonably happy in his first outing in the field. Far from the best attack and still managed to keep Australia from getting a 500 plus score, though NZ unlikely to get anywhere close

Starc is a bit underrated as a batsman IMO. He's probably the most consistent tail end batter Australia have at the moment. Always seems to make 20 runs.

Hopefully he will have the confidence to bowl the wrong'un earlier on. He probably needs Latham to keep the captaincy to get an extended run.

Yeah, wasn't sold on Astle, but anyone is better than Santner in tests, and he was threatening from what I saw today.

Just got home from Melbourne, flight last night was cancelled after sitting in the plane for over two hours while they worked on the engines ... then today instead of flying direct back to Wellington, we had to go via Sydney. Have had two hours sleep ... tour from hell for the supporters as well!

I honestly don’t know how anyone thinks Ian Smith is a good commentator, and I have quite low levels of cultural cringe. He is incredibly embarrassing.

Do these idiots not have access to the internet? So far they’ve been baffled by Ross Taylor’s name, the highest ever 6 hitter, and Pat Cummins’ age.

the australians bowl into the deck so if there's variable bounce they'll exploit it more than southee/boult/henry/cdg
It’s weird how Cummins is shorter and slower and yet when Starc hits the same length as Cummins he seems to be less ‘into the deck’. Cricket defies physics.
