An ATG SL team would have players who played between 1995-2015. India did decently in SL during this period, never got marauded. Held them to a draw in 1997, lost 1-2 in 2001, lost 1-2 in 2008 and drew 1-1 in 2010.

Add Gavaskar,Kapil and Kohli to those indian teams and it would be very close, could go either way.
Murali was just a machine at home. Add in Herath and Vaas and it's a very tough attack to cope with in those connditions.

Pujara has to be in the starting 11, batting is far too weak. Would rather have Rabada opening the bowling too.

Bumrah needs to play at least 30-40 Tests.

People acting like India have this amazing pantheon of quick bowlers bumrah needs to prove himself against. He walks into the xi. No other Indian pacer has bowled anywhere with anywhere near the the same impact.

That's a contradiction.
Bumrah needs to play 40 tests to surpass veteran of 7 tests amar Singh apparently.
I don’t think so, he was born in 1910. The situation was different then. Bumrah hasn’t played 40 first class games, let alone 40 Tests. I don’t think you can have the same criteria for players now as you did then. On talent, he walks into the side. But let’s say his back just gives out at this point - would be still make the side? If you only consider “peaks”, then yes, on talent, he would.

AWTA, Amar Singh could have missed out on Tests due to World Wars and things like that, so it would be harsh to hold that against him. I don't know much about him though.

Bumrah has already done something that no Indian bowler of the past has managed, which is bowl us to a series win in Australia, so he has a decent case on that basis alone. He would make any all-time Indian 3 man seam attack overseas.

Amar Singh did have a very nice reputation among his international peers, something that isn't mentioned enough is that he was also a very capable batsman. Still you just can't have a guy with 7 matches in an ATG side, neither one with 12 fwiw.

I don't think this holds up. Amar Singh played his tests in four years against one opposition in two countries and averaged a tick over 30. Despite only playing for a year and a half Bumrah already has a more rounded and better record, with not playing at home the main defect.

An ATG indian team would not be good enough to beat teams like WI, Aus or SA away. So just throwing something unconventional.

Gavaskar
Dravid
Pujara
Tendulkar
Kohli
Shastri
Dhoni
Mankad
Kapil
Prabhakar
Nadkarni

With this team, you could actually draw a few matches by the skin of your teeth.
