And who will decide who gets which decade?
Everyone will be free to choose what decade they want. But I will choose what players belong to which decade (to avoid arguments).

At the moment I'm thinking of opening 11 slots:

- 1800's
- 1900's & 1910's
- 1920's & early 1930's (no Bradman)
- late 1930's & 1940's
- 1950's
- 1960's
- 1970's
- 1980's
- 1990's
- 2000's
- 2010's (current day)

Seems like there a few people already keen on joining up. So I'll let people decide now which decade they want to choose. (Yes, Shri, you can have the 90's).

But don't post your squads here yet. Wait for me to begin a new thread which will contain rules and a list of players & which decade they belong to. Just pick a decade and post it here if you're keen to join in.

Also prepared to let more than 11 people play if that is the case. If we run out of decades then they can just pick a random squad with whoever they like in it, without being limited to a decade.

I realised as I began sort through the players game that there are far too many big names missing from the game (especially pre-WW2) for this to work. Therefore, I have included some invented players in the above list that I will assign values for based on their FC record, whilst using existing player values as reference points. Apologies if there are errors in this list, and if anybody wants to query me on a player in regards to their respective decade, or want to ask me about players who aren't on the list, fire away.

Murali in 90s is unfair. He took 565 wickets in 2000s. Same goes for McGrath. 90s already have some awesome fast bowlers so give 2000 this benefit.

Murali I can agree with, I'll edit the list & put him in the 2000s.

Not so sure about McGrath though, I'd like to hear what other people think about McGrath.

Thanks for the feedback KK, everybody please feel free to suggest alterations to the list.

McGrath is tough because nearly exactly half his career was spent in the 90s and half in the 00s

but the 90s have more than enough ATG quickies to bulk up a team so im all for pushing him to the 00s

McGrath played 124 test matches. He played 66 test matches in 2000s so thats more than 51%. 2000s deserves McGrath as 90s already have Ambrose, Danny Morrison, Donald, Akram, Waqar, Warne.

Sunil Gavaskar too played more than 55% cricket in 80s so he should go to the 1980s as well.

Gavaskar 124 test matches: 66 in 80s.

We can easily divide the games played in particular decade and give that particular player to the Drafter who is picking from that decade.

Sunil is another tough call. Even though he played more matches in the 80's, India played less Tests in general back in the 70's. He also played for 9 years in the 70's and 8 years in the 80's

No. of Tests played by India (1973 - 1975)

1973 - 4
1974 - 6
1975 - 2

The games played method is fair on an ostensible level, but I also think a player's peak & the decade in which they made the greatest impact should be factored in. For example, Miller & Lindwall played more Tets in the 50's, however Ray Lindwall slowed down his action in the 50's which prolonged his career. But by then he was no longer the tearaway quick by which we all remember him. The Miller/Lindwall partnership was at its strongest when both men were at their peak, in the 40's, immediately after WW2.

Will these factors be counted in sim? No. So why not to go with the statistics?
