Was Australia's Sledging Too Much?

I think for people that find the sledging too much to handle they should just come to the match at the lunch break and watch the kiddies play and leave when the men come back out onto the field. I would be willing to give my seat to some poor fragile soul during the lunch break so they can watch the kiddies.

Can't believe Silent Striker has resisted the comparisons to ice hockey where if they mouth off at each other they fight.

Such **** politically correct times. Let them show their true colors and leave it to the watching public to make heroes or villains out of them. Bad example for the kids, what a joke...if watching a guy like Johnson in demigod-like physical condition charge in and scare the living wits out of batsmen isn't good enough just because he does a little masturbating mime on the side, then I reckon kids are better off downloading porn and smoking pot. Just watching this one Test would've inspired more kids in Australia to start bowling than any other game in the last five years.

Would at least make me respect these idiots if they backed it up with something. But it's hard to act tough when you know you might get your teeth knocked out.

Ooh I'm so tough by standing five feet away and talking like a 14 year old. That's soooo tough.

Yeah, this is largely ,my take on it as well. Confrontation of this sort in cricket is just so boring. It's all just hot air, they may as well just shut up and play the damn game.

Andy Flower trying to have Lehmann arrange for those two to participate in some silly sit down sledging summit is one of the most lame things I have ever heard of. What the **** is wrong with Flower? Dead set this English team is rattled.

To be fair, it wasn't his idea. Did laugh when I heard it though. A summit to work out how exactly you can abuse/trash talk each other on the field? Come on.

Sorry yes he was responding to a question, but nevertheless, to even consider it is crazy. His answer should have been "no I don't think that is necessary, we are all adults"

LOL sledging summit. An upper limit of five expletives per minute. Family not OK unless it's the in laws. Which verbs to use? So many pressing questions. Should set up a sledging committee that comes up with a list of approved pre-made sledges and players can choose from them at will.

Imagine the negotiations. "I'll give you the right to call Broad a **** four times an hour, but in return I demand to be able to call Watson a ****ing **** **** at least six times an hour."

EDIT: And if you put it in writing, does it become binding? Such dilemmas.

In Lehmann's autobiography (re: Sri Lanka racism incident where he unfortunately still tried to blame the media a little bit) he also seems to take the view (to a degree) that most of what happens on the pitch and dressing room should stay there so his refusal is consistent with the views he has held for a while.

Umpires should get a **** counter in their hands to keep track of such utterances. Obviously objective measurements would be needed.

Do you think some of the Aussies might be a bit unsure now about how much to sledge? Didn't Ponting get in a bit of a tangle around this kind of thing a while ago?
