The guy averaging over 50 in first class cricket over the past 3 years is batting 10 in their XI

Oh cricinfo you thick bastards.

Good god why are they thinking of going in with only two seamers? Honestly? Martin had the best spell of his career, lightening is not likely to strike twice for this guy.

Then you have the biggest shoulder slumper in the game. Offers meat and potatoes outside off delivery after delivery then sulks back to his mark, kicking the turf. Guy has potential with the bat, but what use is that potential when he can't turn it into reality?

Franklin is to the Black Caps what Stephen Donald is to the All Blacks. ****ing **** house on the big stage.

I blame Vettori for this

No but seriously....Vettori really rates Patel. It's like the same logic he uses to rate himself just far, far worse.

Disagree to an extent. He was a very good bowler pre-injury. He is flaky, but his batting isn't up to test level because he isn't very good off the back foot.

Patel's awesomeness as a human being just makes him seem like a better option than he is.

Should play though.

Seriously, how high does Jeets rank on the "worst bowler to ever play 10 tests" list? He averages 43 in FC cricket over an 11 year career ffs!! The fact that the bloke even plays cricket is just too ridiculous.

The crazy crazy crazy (crazy) thing is, I think Jeets is probably the WORST spinner to get a regular gig on the NZ FC scene in his era. I just...ffs...there aren't words.

Nathan McCullum is worse than Patel.
tbh they are pretty similar. So is it fair to say we have gone with our 2 worst spinners as Vettori's back-up? Classic NZ selection imo, "our FC pitches are the opposite of international pitches so let's pick the worst performing players, they're bound to succeed".
