Broom bowling at International level would almost be as disasterious as him batting at international level.

Shame about Clarke ... guess that is what you get when you date a hussy!

Let's all just get used to the fact Broom's going to be a permanent fixture in this one-day side, no matter how often he fails. Obviously an average of 17 & SR of just on 70 (after 20+ games) is good enough for a middle order specialist batsman who doesn't bowl.

When he does finally get a 50 against a half-decent side, you can bet your bottom dollar, the selectors will say ...'we told you so' like it would somehow make up for the 20 or so previous failures

For me, his biggest problem seems to be his bat-lift which points in the direction of cover-point, so I don't find it at all surprising that he has this incredible propensity to miss perfectly straight deliveries. Not sure if anyone else has notice this with his bat-lift or not.

On the plus side, it means Guptill's in with the field restrictions applying. So much better in this situation.

Good to see we fielded first and didn't let NZ do what they're so good and comfortable at.
Not sure it was a great decision at all if this wicket slows up. Vettori did say he would've batted first anyways

Perfect opportunity for Broom. Comes in with the ball a little older and ages to bat. Perfect for a batsman who should be playing tests, not ODI's.
