As captain he has won two world cups, two champions trophys and led his team with distinction. Generally teams play better with a good captain, Australia has played better than anyone.

Nobody has as captain has won as many tests as Ponting, dosent matter what you say, nobody has won as many.

No Captain can even dream of Pontings captaincy record in WC's, what is it something like 24 matches for 24 wins including 2 unbeaten trophys.

Ponting is the very best ODI captain ever to play, argue all you like but he is the very best.

No batsman walks out and takes it up to the other team like Ponting, everything Ponting does is a defining moment in cricket, he has a sense of occasion as witnessed by his 137 not out on the day he is named player of the decade, or his WC final innings.

Ponting and Lloyd captained very talented teams and that in itself is a huge job, some cant handle it like Lara and Tendulkar just found it too demanding and Lara even had critisisms from his own players. Ponting has received nothing but praise from former and current players. Some former players dont hold their punches and Warne would be the first to slip into Punter if he had reason. Langer speaks of the dedication Punter has with the team doing things like being the last one to leave the nets after spending time working with players.

Its only your opinion that Ponting is not a good captain, I have my opinion and some pretty good evidence to go with it.

I might be sounding very anti-Ponting in this thread saying it is ludicrous that he has been voted the player of the decade but let me say, I admire his batting a lot and don't hold his record in India against him. I am not some one who hates Ponting at all.
