Actually, at home he belts the crap out of Kumble.

It's really weird how Ponting has not succeeded in India. I can't really pin-point why. He's good against spin, he's played in similar conditions before and he's even belted the same team at home.
Kumble and Harbhajan have never been effective on non-turning pitches though. Kumble improved in the last phase of his career, but was still merely good on wickets without turn.

No, he doesn't. He may have belted the crap out of him, but a more accurate description would be that Kumble caused him no problems, as Ponting was noted in his risk-free approach to Kumble rather than looking to smash it.

Anyway, Kumble outside India has rarely been much of a challenge. Playing Kumble well in Australia doesn't say anything much about a player's spin-playing skill.

And his failure against Ishant Sharma. A batsman of his calss shouldnt be getting out to a 20 yr old rookie, and that too consistently. Guess, it's called being outdone by some really good bowling.
Nah, Ponting has been brilliant against better bowlers and has fared worse against others that probably don't match upto him in comparison to the class of batsmen he is. It happens, nothing new nor trend-worthy there.

Considering he averages like 80 at home against India and Kumble is/was their prime bowler I think "belted" is apt.

Anyway, I wasn't replying to whether Kumble is good away, just that Ponting's problems haven't really been with Kumble and especially not so at home. But we're hi-jacking the thread.

Yeah, but doesnt make Ponting look any good, when he time and again fails to the same bowler. More of mental, than technical problem I think.

Not really, it's only apt if you've scored very fast against them.

No batsman of much note has had problems with Kumble away from India. Doing fine against Kumble at home is no achievement of much note, it's in India against him that it counts for something.

I agree. I can't pin-point what it is. Sharma just bowled excellently and would have gotten most batsmen out the way he got Ponting out. Harbhajan, though, I just don't understand.

Do you just look to argue with anything or anyone? For ****s sake.

No, I just don't like people using inaccurate descriptions to try to make something look bigger than it is, whether they be big or small (like "I watched every ball of a series" or "he belted him" when he scored at 2.7-an-over or whatever - and yes I realise that Ponting's rate was quicker than that).

I heard that Smitteh averages 150 with the bat and 4 with the ball, he also took 11 catches in an innings once, managed to get two batsmen out in one ball

I'm beginning to realise why you guys were smackorthdoxed TBH.

Heard Smitteh destroyed the periodic table because the only element he recognises is surprise.

Hmm, I thought it was a nicetric myself that TBH, but iordine could've pulled it off easily. Sm33teh doesn't deserve any hydrogenic praise for it.

[Needs some chemists to pun here mind, hope we have one or two awake currently]
