WI to host 20/20 WC in 2010

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt the ODI WC in WI a bit of a disaster?

Obviously, ICC's strategy is to keep giving tournaments to people until they get it right

Is there any particular reason why World cups or champions trophys arent held on Australia? The stadiums in Australia hold the maximum capacity, the last world cup that was held there was a major success and they have some of the best facillities around the world. Yet 16 years and counting since the last major tournament was played there.

India uses power over ICC to award West Indies last WC > WI being a guaranteed vote in India's favour

WI being given right to 20/20 WC > WI being less tempted to stage more Stanford Series in competition with IPL

I think the board tried to get the Champions Trophy here at one stage; not 100% sure though.

Absolutely terrible decision. Australia and NZ should've got the Twenty20 World Cup. We never, ever get big tournaments here. We have the best facilities in the world, some of the best pitches for Limited Overs cricket in the world and the interest in cricket here is fantastic. Why we don't get any major events, I just don't know.

Maybe we didn't want it? Did Australia even bid for it?

ICC events require sterilisation of stadia wrt advertising. Perhaps CA just plainly doesn't want to lose their present clients? The reason why the Wankhede didn't get any of the 2006 CT games. Not everything has to be a conspiracy against Australia.

Yeah, not much point complaining about it being hosted in the WI as all that's actually happened here as far as I can see is the CT has been replaced by the T20 WC.

I have read bull**** abt BCCI, but this "conspiracy" post takes the cake.

The problem with Australia is that, their season is littered with Aus matches, and the crowded calendar doesnt permit scheduling the tourney at a diff time. To suggest BCCI is all out to deny Australia is crock**** since they've given Australian teams the go at the Champions League than WI.
