Who do you feel is the greatest English fast bowler ever ?
The poor fellow will be turning in his grave. But I like the choice. I almost chose him myself.Larwood easily !
I like fast bowling tbh and he was like Shoaib Akhtar of England.
He used to walk to The Oval from his home each day and then back again at the close, a distance of 14 miles, and all with his kit in a bag.Tom Richardson![]()
Because Flintoff's career has largely been very average, and doesn't compare to some of the others in the poll. Why would you put Hoggard on that list, and not Flintoff?
He was average in the first 4 or 5 years. He has been above average since about 2003Because Flintoff's career has largely been very average, and doesn't compare to some of the others in the poll.
Not even close mate. 88 wickets is hardly enough. Fantastic FC bowler though.Tom Richardson![]()
He only averages a touch over 30 (30.01 to be precise), which isn't all that impressive. However 247 wickets shows that he has been one of England's better fast bowlers over the years and is fit to be included. Definitely fast-medium material too, and it would be almost criminal to include Barnes in the list and exlude Hoggard if you were taking their actual speed into account.Hoggard's a fast bowler? What's he even doing on the list? He averages over 30![]()
DWTA. Shouldn't be on the list imo. Then again neither should Bill VoceHe only averages a touch over 30 (30.01 to be precise), which isn't all that impressive. Any bowler who averages under 30 is an above average bowler iyamBefore 2003.
After 2003.
An average of 29.58 isn't really 'above average', especially since he's taken quite a few cheap ones against Bangladesh, but it's definitely an improvement upon the early part of his career.
Any real reason you don't think he should be? 247 wickets at 30.01 is fairly good, when you consider the era he's playing in.DWTA. Shouldn't be on the list imo. Then again neither should Bill Voce
Yet you're willing to totally write off Hoggard as undeserving when he averages 30.01? Seems a tad harsh.Any bowler who averages under 30 is an above average bowler iyam
A bit like your willingness to write off Joel Garner because he has only played 98 ODIs and not 100.Yet you're willing to totally write off Hoggard as undeserving when he averages 30.01? Seems a tad harsh.
