Why are forums archived?

No, there's no reason to have them deleted at all. If someone wants to look at posts from the past, they should be able to.

Perfectly fair question. It's like the old antiques at a shop that are behind ropes and you aren't allowed to touch - I find it a bit frustrating sometimes.

Actually AWTA, astonishingly. Hate it when you can't touch archived forums - though as to the original question - delete 'em?!?!?! :-O Yo mad? They're precious parts of forum history, all (even the non-cricket-related ones), no way can they be deleted.

Very good question actually. I don't see why they can't be left open. If people want to discuss things from the 2003 WC for example or dig up a post to make a comment on it (especially if it was a prediction), they should be able to IMO.

I like the fact that they're kept/archived, but I do think we should be able to post in them. I've wanted to post in the 2003 one before, but couldn't.

As Prince said, I see no difference between digging a post in CC from 2003 compared to the WC forum.
