Sir Redman

State Vice-Captain
How old are you?

13-19

Have you ever played rugby?

Yes. One proper game and a couple of social games

If so what made you want to play rugby?

My unbelievable patriotism for my school. But more because we needed the numbers :)

Do you still play rugby? If not, why?

No. Will probably never play a game again due to morbid fear of pinging my knee

Do you follow provincial and international rugby?

Yes, mainly international, but I do watch some Super 12/ NPC

Do you care if your country or your province loses?

Yes

When your province or your country win does it make you feel better about the sport?

Yes, slightly

Does anything scare/ worry or stop you from playing rugby?

Knee + fact that I am about 1/2 the size and 1/4 the weight of everyone else

Any other comment about what you may think stops or encourages people to play rugby?

Same as what Voltman said about Polynesian kids maturing faster and being ridiculously big.

I was made to, but I enjoyed the kicking and running elements of the game, and had good hands I seem to remember

Do you still play rugby? If not, why?
Nope.. Sports such as Badminton/Surfing/Cricket took over, I moved college and wasn't as big as I needed to be, too lanky to fit my position..

Do you follow provincial and international rugby?
I tend to follow the Boks occasionaly.. I follow rugby when I'm in South Africa more, or when there is no cricket/badminton going on.. But I don't follow it closely when im in England.. I sometimes go to Bath which is my closest club

Do you care if your country or your province loses?
I only cared when SA were in a major slump and when England won the world cup..

When your province or your country win does it make you feel better about the sport?
Only when England won the WC.. I felt a lot of people jumped on the "rugby bandwagon" for a few months

Does anything scare/ worry or stop you from playing rugby?
The fact that I don't hit the gym often enough to dominate anyone?

Any other comment about what you may think stops or encourages people to play rugby?
Massive footie culture in the UK
Lack of oppertunity at state schools
Physical aspects (size etc)
