CW Red Awards

It's the night of nights at the CW Red camp - the Seasonal Awards Ceremony.

This season it was a handshake agreement that the awards would be held in the back room of the CW Bar due to a player safety issue.

The A grade media representatives were all there, Loddy Twinshins, Marcus Alblack, Mohammed Jihad, Berry True and many more. However on that note, Kwase Knight was restrained at the door, and manhandled in the alley behind the bar.

Onto the most important part of the night - the Awards.

These awards were voted upon by all team members (bar Mr Nayak, Mr Markus and Mr Kennett, who were all out of the country and unavailable).

5D Batsman of the Season - Rob Dauth
5D Bowler of the Season - Nick Borcich
1D Batsman of the Season - James Stedman
1D Bowler of the Season - Nick Borcich

Congratulations to all who recieved awards in that lot.

The Captains Award was the next to be awarded, to be done by the outgoing captain Marc Robbins.

Captains Award - The Team.

Marc had this to say on the decision: "I decided to give it to the team as a whole for having a good spirit amongst ourselves all season"

Each player will recieve an individual medal, as a result.

Now onto the awards decided upon by the selection panal:

Firstly, the Rookie of the Season. This award unanimously went to Rich Edmunds, after a very promising debut season in which he returned 5D figures of 29 wickets @ 25.72. He looks a good prospect for the future.

Now, the 5D Player of the Season. After a superb season with the ball where he was equal wicket taker, with 58 @ 24.84. Nick Borcich comfortably took out the award over his peers. This season Nick did very well in the absence of Watt and Kennett, and took the new ball with superb control.

1D Player of the Season was another straightforward result, after the bowlers not firing it was down to the batsmen, and it was decided James Stedman was the best choice. 660 runs @ 41.25 was easilly the best out of the Reds, and was a real rock at the top of the order. Highlighted by his 109 from 119 balls against Green earlier in the season, he produced 5x50's in what was easilly his best 1D season.

The big award for the night was left til last. This was the Overall player award, as judged by the selection panal. In an extremely close result, Nick Borcich brought home the goods once again, his season with the ball in both forms was at the top of his class and it was hard to look past that. He was the leading 1D wicket taker, managing 19 scalps at an average of 44.95, which may not seem too flattering, but in comparison with his peers, it was a good effort indeed. But his 5D bowling was the main drawcard 58 wickets @ 24.84, which included his maiden FC 5w haul, saw him go down as the Reds player of the Season. "For mother Russia" he yelped as he ran off into the night with his collection of trophys.

In what was a good night indeed for all involved, the CW Bar was the real winner, with the team staying on drinking into the night (except Mr Borcich, who went home to enjoy some of his mothers home made Kotlety Pozharskie).

Congratulations again to all those who recieved awards, and let's go on to better things next season!

First of all, Thanks to all who voted for me. I am extremely honoured to take these awards. I'd like to congratulate all others who recieved awards. And everyone else who pulled on a reds guernsey this season. Well done! Plenty of Pozharskie to go around.

Eh?
Never mind. Just pass us some of that Pozharskie

Anyway, congrats Nick, Dauth, Stedman, Edmunds.

And thanks to all the guys who put all that effort in this year, we'll have some trophies to show off at this ceremony next year ;)

Just letting the lads know I'm back after a forced absence (no modem does that).

Congrats to my good mate DJ Watt for the captaincy, looking forward to next season!

5th Board Member Announced!

After a board meeting which carried on late into the night, the decided that players and fans alike had been waiting for was announced. After long deliberation the board came to an agreement that Nick Borcich would be the best person to replace Ian Markus on the Selection Panel.

Captain, Dave Watt was quoted as saying "It was a tough decision, however Nick is young, fresh and definently one we want leading the club into the future".

Celebrations are in order and Mrs Borcich has put on free Beef Stroganoff and Cheboureki for all at the CW Bar tonight. Whilst Marc Robbins has kindly agreed to several kegs of Baltika for the night.
