I really want us to do left-field and get De Grandhomme to open with Guptill. Give CDG licence to attack with the field up. He can't do worse than Munro and Nicholls as an opener.

Then Nicholls can bat 6 and sweep the Indian spinners to death before Neesham plays as a finisher.
I think this could actually work tbh

Socialist bull****. The captains should have to fight for it in the ring, Queensberry rules, like men.
Reckon Virat could beat up Smith and Kane pretty easily. More aggressive and in better shape.

Virat Vs Morgan could be a fun fight. I'd lean towards Virat but the Irish love a good scrap.

Finch is the Australian captain, not Smith. I would back him.

Ah right sorry I'm just used to all Australian captains being cheats.

Finch and Kohli are pretty similar in height and reach, but Finch has got 20kgs on him. This probs means more strength, but as every fighting fan knows, Cardio is king and Virats got a better gas tank surely. If Finch doesn't KO him early, Virat might win enough rounds to get the decision or even get a late stoppage. Really depends how many rounds they're fighting and what ruleset tbh. Finch could dominate clinch and grappling exchanges.

So you will play 6 bowlers? I hope Kohli doesn't think like that. So many people I know seem to think Jadeja is better batsman than Jadhav. It makes no sense

If they have to play 5 bowlers, I hope they don't play three spinners, that would be dumb. Jadeja would have to play IMO, so one of Chahal/Kuldeep may have to sit out.

Kohli may or may not pick Jadhav. But imo Jadhav has been almost non-existent in the World Cup so far. So picking Jadeja would barely dent our batting while also bringing an alternative bowling option. If top order fails and Jadhav gets to bat, it will be a low score and he won't get to bowl most likely anyway.

Team selection will depend a lot on weather and pitch conditions.

Well the hope would be that he could make sure it's not a low score. I mean, this line of argument just invalidates the need for a good batsman at #6.

Lets just hope our lower order batsmen won't have to bat at all. Peeked into stats which do suggest Jadhav is a better batsman than Jadeja in a collapse situation. Clicks more often than Jadeja.

it's irrelevant which jammy anti-spinner who bats you pick because you're gonna lose

im picking an outside hero this time, maybe a rare tom latham century.

Lol are our kiwi posters trolling here? So much positivity

If I were the Indian coach I'd play Shami, he destroyed us in NZ and he's still firing at the WC. The other Kumar guy will be easier for us to hit esp later in the innings when Neesham and CDG comes in for him

I think we've worked out the lefty spinner and we should be fine against him, if India left him for the NZ tour we'd be bamboozoed in the semis, like other teams ealier in the tournament facing him.

Jadeja could give us trouble batting/fielding/bowling, haven't played him too much lately.

"Destiny" is seriously on our side this time lol, weaker teams at the start where we made sure we got full points, remember the name didn't finish the job and we're through thanks to his mis-hit, rained out against India and getting the crucial 1 point, and Pakistan having the weird mentality of not going for the miracle....can't imagine Barca or Liverpool just going for a second leg close win rather than trying to smash the other team to quality...now we have extra days off to refresh, rest and study the opponents and get all the crap luck out of the way in the last pool game (Kane run out, Taylor brain fart, Nichols non review etc), then India had such easy games lately and NZ working against tough opponents.....I'd prefer to be facing tough opposition leading up to knock out games....

It's up to the Black Caps to grab the opportunity and hope the stats favor them this time...a bunch of batsmen failing x 5-7 times....hopefully will get lucky and have a few of them due this week....

Yes NZ need to embrace the inner troll. Drop the inclination to be bashful about sneaking into the semi-finals and instead infuriate people more by suddenly pulling a win out when it matters.

There are minor concerns like 'where will the runs come from', but I have my hopes on De Grandhomme playing the exact type of shot he's played the last couple of matches but landing it in the gap or over the fence two dozen times. Go Colin.

Might as well start sledging as well, remind bald Virat of his losing days in AUS a few years back, peel that mental scars right off his chest
