How does this work? Aren't other countries' games played whilst one person is playing? Reckon there's any room? :shy:

A disgraceful display of umpiring virtually handed India this match, Tendulkar was plum LBW to spin king Dave Mohammed (10-1-45-0) in single figures, but the umpires finger stayed down, Laxman should have been LBW three times. Poor fielding helped the indians with both Kambli and Laxman being floored.

After falling to 50-5 it was game over, but Sarwan, in woeful form of late, hit 87 from 98 to give West Indies hope, but despite Mohammed's later heroics(12 from 26) WI fell 56 runs short - the overs not a problem as 11 remained.

A dissapointing OD series came to a close with a heavy defeat to Sri Lanka, Dave Mohammed provided one of the only bright spots with a tidy spell (10-1-39-1). Hooper and Collins were dealt with severely.

Only Chanderpaul, Hooper and Mohammed provided any resistance with the bat

on to Australia - it doesn't get any easier.

Only warmup against New South Wales

Lambert, Findlay, Jackson, Nurse and Bennett made their first appearances in West Indies colours as Chanderpaul rested ahead of the test series.

Slater's ton for NSW, accompanied by fifties for Thornley and Nicholson saw NSW score 394. Bennett took 3 wickets and Mohammed 4.

WI struggled in their first innings although Lambert scored 48 on debut, Sarwan's 64 the only other significant score as WI made just 229. To add salt to the injury (thanks bob) Dwayne Bravo suffered a broken rib and will be out for 6 weeks.

With the 150 rule in operation WI were forced to follow on but second time round they made a better stab, Gayle scoring 154, Lambert 39 and Findlay 69 as they posted 308-4 dec, leaving just enough time to reduce NSW to 17-2 with Nurse getting both wickets.

Next up first test, daunting prospect

Mohammed's Magic

Australia won the toss and were cruising at 106-0 at Lunch on the first day. Enter Dave Mohammed, Hayden was the first to go, Ponting didn't last long. Bennett chipped in with Martyn's wicket. Mohammed then produced a double wammy to remove Langer for 84 and Gilchrist for just 2. Australia 166-5.

The Katich, Hodge and Lee added 150 between them for teh next two wickets, before Mohammed returned to skittle the tail and finish with incredible figures of 7-70. Australia all out for 326.

More to come

Old Heads held high

The start of the WI reply could not have been much worse, the second ball of Jason Gillespies first over took the egde of Chris Gayle's bat and Gilchrist made no mistake behind. It was to be the only success until the 50th over. Lambert making his test debut ground out 45 from 180 balls in an innings which perfectly encapsulated the determination of the men from the caribbean. He found the boundary just 4 times, with 2 of these coming in successive balls as he struck Gillespie for a six and a four. he could have asked for no better partner at the other end than Brian Charles Lara, the great man hitting 84. The rest of the middle order came to the party aswell, Sarwan hitting 73 and Chanderpaul 96. At one stage WI were 255-3 and then 316-5 but Australia hit back through Warne and managed to knock the tail over cheaply, Chanderpaul last man out. The score was 355 and WI had 29 run lead, slender but potentially vital.

Nurse administers the correct medicine

With time running out in the game after the relaxed pace of the West Indian innings, and also with knowledge of having to bat last on a wearing pitch, the West indians really couldn't allow the aussies to get away and neither could they expect more heroics from Mohammed.

An opening partnership of 43 was broken by Magic Mohammed, and he also added Hayden to his tally. But the wicket of Ponting caught behind, to give Ryan Nurse his first test wicket gave a taste of what was to come - 3 times more the combination of Baugh and Nurse sent an Aussie back to the pavilion, and a smart catch by Lara at slip accounted for the fifth of Nurse's wickets. Martyn top scored with 93 but Mohammed returned to clean up the tail and finish with 4, to leave match figures of 11-166. Nurse took 5-63 in the second innings. Australia all out for 277 and WI need 249 to win.

Lara ensures famous win

Once again Chris Gayle fell early, this time to the first ball of the innings, again caught behind. Once again Lambert steadied the ship with 26 from 55 as he added 49 with Lara. At 49-2 though Australia must have smelled a victory - they didn't reckon with BC Lara. The man who has produced so many awesome innings over the years did it again, with 153* from 263 balls, adding an unbroken 200 with Sarwan(61*) to see WI home to a brilliant victory against the best team in the world.

Lara was given the Man of the Match award, though many thought Mohammed was more deserving.
