Should be interesting. This may be an oppurtunity for Murali Karthik to prove himself to Ganguly....

Murali Karthik is in a bit of a 'midway' zone. His bowling is not bad enough for him to be discarded from candidacy and the chances he has been given havent been taken in a manner to inspire anything but mild interest. He will need to come up with the 'big' goods soon or it may be curtains for him. Sad for he did show potential. I think he has everything but that elusive quality of peneteration.

It will be interesting to see if they allow the other Karthik to keep wickets for the Seniors since Parthiv is also in the team. PLUS allow Rambathi Nayudu a game.

The selections arent well thought out.

1)Ambati Rayudu would have been better used in the A team , where he is more likely to get a game than in the seniors team.

2)Unless the selectors are seriously looking at Dhoni as an option for this Australia series , there is no sense in picking him as the only keeper in the A team. If the choice is only between Parthiv and Dinesh karthik , it would have been better to play them in the opposing teams , rather than dump them in the same squad , which means one of them will have to sit out .

Can't see him proving himself as anything but 1st reserve to Harbhajan and Kumble.

Is that awful state/zone quota system back already? Nothing about Yogesh Golwalkar or Kiran Powar to suggest they're better than Sairaj Bahutule, Ramesh Powar, Avishkar Salvi or even Railwayman/Central Jai Prakash Yadav. hopefully this will have a few all-round performances by a few players, which is what the team needs.

The mainline Mumbai players were not picked in these squads because Mumbai plays Australia before the first test anyway at Brabourne Stadium where Salvi, Powar and those guys will get a chance to show their skills.

Thanks. That reminds me. Why were both matches scheduled on the same days? The same players could also have shown their skills against the Indian senior team, and they would be more competitive than these extras in the India 'A' team.

Siddharth Trivedi is a medium-pacer who plays for Gujarat. He has an average of 25, with not too many 5-wicket hauls. No idea how fast he is, but at least he's tall. He was in Australia as a part of a scholarship programme. Hopefully it has been of some help for him.

Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, S. Ramesh and a couple of others have all been playing better than him. He has not made a very big score last season and perhaps that has shut the door on him for the moment.
