That’s a dismissal completely contrary to how I thought the rule worked. May as well let blokes field outside the rope

It's been like that for like 5 years now. Your first touch of the ball has to be inside the rope so you still have to start inside the rope

Just saw the replay... how the hell is that out?

The solution of course is to get rid of boundary ropes and just use the fence.

So you knock a ball up, put your feet down over the rope, do some horrible effete little ballet skip into the air when you pat it back across the rope even though you’re still Outside the field of play, and it’s out?

Cricket has jumped the shark. It’s done. What a stupid ****ing rule.

Yep. We had the same discussion a year or 2 ago when the rule first changed. Pure insanity whoever came up with that idea.
