Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

Interesting you have the same affection for the 90s as me. I know very little about 80s cricket or have any nostalgia for pre '95 stuff and was born in '91 for example

Maybe the 90s were just an awesome time for cricket and that transcends matters of being old enough to remember it. Trundler seems to know plenty about Wasim and Waqar and was born around the time they retired

Like how Rashid Khan is 21 and Afridi made his debut at 16

Something in that I reckon, Speaking from an Australian point of view it was such a brilliant era, a quality national team being fed by a strong and fiercely competitive domestic scene, phenomenal level of depth as emphasised by the Australia A sides giving the main team a fair run for their money on a few occasions. Admittedly I do have a dad and uncle who are cricket fanatics themselves so that probably helped

Wacas have an all-star lineup and should win. Not saying they will.

Short Phillipe Marsh Bancroft Turner Stoinis Agar Coulter-Nile Richardson Kelly Tye.

Cartwright and Green miss out for me. Green vs. Kelly was tough. Maybe Agar was lucky too since Turner and Short can bowl some spin.

Mitch Marsh to also come into that line up once he's rested from his 1 test and 2 tour games in 10 weeks....fittest he's ever been my arse lol

Quietly confident about the bulls chances this year myself. Hopefully attending on Sunday.

The lack of a proper wicketkeeper annoys me but otherwise a very impressive looking squad
Philippe can keep well and i would consider him to be proper, not just a backup. Also Whiteman just sadly hasnt fulfilled his talent. I know hes had injuries but hes also had lots of chances in BBL and 50 over cricket but usually holes out in the deep the first or second time he tries an aggressive shot. I wonder if he looks at Carey and thinks that could have been him.

Josh Inglis is probably unlucky. When MitchMarsh returns he throws the balance out IMO.

Fair enough, I must admit I haven't seen very much of him with the gloves, but if he has the ability to be up to specialist keeper standard that is very valuable indeed.

Wicketkeeping is a very specialised art, hence why I'm not a fan of blatant part time keepers like Handscomb or Bancroft, need to be taking the gloves as regularly as possible to be a viable option in the job at a higher level

Next minute Bancroft keeps.. nah surely not.

I was going to ask the other day, where is Tom Rogers for Tassie? I guess his First Class records is superior to his List A.

Does anyone know much about Tasmanias Nathan Ellis? Looks to be a Sydney Grade product (Tasmanias development hub).

Whiteman Rogers Swepson Andrew Dwarshuis Wells Qadir Inglis Paris Milenko Rose Sayers Larkin is a squad of players who appear to be overlooked. Im sure some of these are injured but most would have just missed out.

Here in South Australia Sayers still has some back issues, should be ready for the Shield. Not like he's ever been a great 50 over bowler anyway. Andrews just wasn't picked though. Dan Worrall probably out for the season from what I've heard around the traps here

Heard Rogers had some injury concerns as well.

Qadir has went back to Pakistan seemingly

I too am interested to know more wrt Ellis

CA have their own guidelines which are:

Avoid bowling more than two days in a row
No more than four days in a week
1 in 4-5 weeks at 50% capacity
1 in 12 weeks off

U13 limits are
4 overs per spell
8 overs per day
16-20 overs per week
Seems reasonable but depends on the kid

Jnr plays U14s and rules for season are

50 overs per side

Maximum overs per bowler is 10

Maximum length spell is 5 which must be followed by rest of 10 overs

He´s not strong enough to bowl 5 overs at full throttle without action falling apart so probably 2 - 3 spells of a few overs each

Has also had lots of growth related injuries so dont force him to bowl all day in nets

2 nets at maximum 24 balls each plus say 50 on weekend so about 100 balls per week

Did Qadir go back just due to his fathers passing or have you heard its a permanent thing.

Im looking forward to the season. We left our run way too late last wirld cup so its going to be very fun seeing which players emerge.

Not sure. Seems like he was going back anyway, but I'm not sure if Abdul was battling having health issues at that time.

Any predictions for today's game? Think Victoria has the stronger batting but WA edge it on bowling marginally. Hope to see the two big blond beanpoles in Green and Sutherland face off at some point

Claire Polosak umpiring the Vic vs WA game. Is this a first at domestic level or am I just behind the times again?

Will be interested to see how Victoria arrange their batting lineup. Finch and Mad Dog will probably open, but even that I am not 100% certain of.

Polosak has already stood in about 2 or 3 state 50 over games, and at least one Shield game iirc
