CricketWeb Elects! ODI Team of the Decade

Right, so all important ODIs this decade have been played with the conclusion of this WC. This decade has arguably seen the most specialisation in the one day game. At the start of this decade England were getting knocked over by Bangladesh and Ireland, Tendulkar scored the first ever double century and finger spinners were not yet extinct. Well.. A lot has changed. England have a World Cup*, India have fast bowlers but hey, Pakistan still can't catch ****. Would be fun to select a team for the decad, as we reminisce about the years gone by. Below you can view bowling and batting records for each year:

    Dusting with:

Name 2 batsmen to open the innings. Amla, Rohit and Warner have been the standout openers imo. One of those is statistically the best but choked massively in every WC he played.

    Warner, Rohit.

Nice left/right combo. Was tempted for Warner/Amla where Amla's anchoring would allow Warner to be used as a hyper-aggressive opener up front, but you just can't leave Rohit out.

    Rohit with Tillakaratne Dilshan.

I'd want someone in the top 5 who is a useful 6th bowler and Kohli, Taylor, and AB (obvious 3-5) are pretty ordinary, so went with Dilshan.
Dilshan was also a quality fieldsman.

These lists are kind of tough to do in this format because, for example, some might choose de Kock as their keeper - who would then open.

I assume Dhoni will be a blowout though.

I thought the same thing about De Kock, although I expect Dhoni to be keeper. Buttler and Sanga would both also be good shouts, but I'd say Kohli, Taylor, AB, MS, Shakib will be 3-7.

I remember De Kock's back to back centuries against indie. He hasn't been in form lately but bloke had a decent run of form for a while. Should be a contender. If people want to pick him or an AR to open I'll adjust accordingly. Just pick your best options without worrying about the balance.

Rohit and Warner, though I do see Fuller Pitch's point re: the lack of a good 6th bowling option. Oh well.

I would go with Rohit and Warner. 2 batsmen who can go big as well as bat aggressively. They would jell so perfectly imo.

Strangely I get the feeling the current World Champions will have very few contenders for this side.

Rohit and Warner would be my choice ahead of Bairstow and Roy.
