Doesn't matter. He specified that it happened "so often". Perhaps they just showed it a lot.

Mentions Atherton as one of the most resilient and toughest he ever bowled to.

As a bowler, I imagine what makes a batsmen stick in your head as being tough to get out is, well, being tough to get out. Atherton lasted more balls per wicket than Cook did, so Atherton was very tough to get out. He just didn't score as quick before he got out to have his average be higher.

Athers made only 6 ducks against Australia and none involved Taylor. It sounds like someone must have had one hell of a childhood.

Only 6 ducks ha. Well I was clearly going a bit out on a limb for dramatic effect, I'm sure he got a bunch of single digit scores dismissed by McGrath in those final 3 ashes

Is there a batsman who were so found out, met their match so thoroughly: McGrath 19, Ambrose 17, Walsh 17 Donald 11, Warne 10. He was unfortunate to live through that era mind.

Would be worth the agony of a richard return* just so he had to read these posts boning Atherton.

*only if he wasn’t allowed to post.

Yeh, taken down regularly 5 of the best bowlers in Test history. What a chump!

Almost seems like a positive stat to me, if you are gonna get out, get out to the best.

Edged to the safe hands of second slip twice, but never to Taylor when on zero.
