In 1921 the Grand Old Man of English cricket, Sir Pelham “Plum” Warner, founded The Cricketer magazine. This month, the magazine runs a feature on the best ever England captains, though their founder does not feature in the magazine’s top ten.

I read the original article and there was a poll on BBC sport also. I think I went,

1/ Brearley
2/ Illingworth
3/ Hutton
4/ Vaughan
5/ Strauss

Or something like that.

Perhaps I should have went Chapman or May before Strauss looking back on it.
