A bit of a scatty side in all honesty, in all departments. In reality, if the team were to play, I think they'd be a hard team to beat- the bowling is all strong and varied - impeccable lines from Hadlee, speed and bounce from Walsh, nibbly left-armers from Goddard, weird, 19th century spin-seam stuff from Lohmann, left-arm spin from Wardle and classical off-spin from Tayfield. The batting would be difficult to dismiss, with three excellent technicians in the middle order to add some serious cake. Engineer adds a bit of aggression down the order, but to me, the batting looks just a tad thin. I had a bit of confusion so I had to adjust things to put Walsh back in the test side, which means I can't quite have things as I wanted them (Mathews at No. 6 for my test side), but what the hey. I think the bowling lacks that ATG edge outside Hadlee - and he's the all rounder. Whilst my bowlers were all excellent players, they lack that star quality just a little bit.

I side I quite like, even if it might not rake in the votes. Up top there is a good contrast between the languid stroke play of Amla and the nutty blasting of BMac, which I love. Then comes in Sangakkara, I like the idea of Baz bashing 60 (20) and you finally dismiss him, only to see Sanga walk out to bat with Amla - the run-scoring potential there is huge. After these guys come a slew of wonderful batsmen and stroke makers - Crowe, Pietersen and Hooper. Mathews can play, and Collingwood offers everything - batting, bowling, plus great fielding. Bowling is great, modern greats in Bond and Vaas, left and right opening combination. Bond with his pace and Yorkers, Vaas with his swing. Then comes Trent with more swing and speed. My only concern is the lack of depth beyond that, sure Colly and Hooper can bowl, but there's a liability that they could get a bit of tap.
