Boeta Dippenaar announces retirement

popepouri

State Vice-Captain
His career strike rate doesn't say much. Here is his stats based on the last 3.5 years:

Span Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s
2005-2007 30 30 4 1099 125* 42.26 1491 73.70 3 7 2 108 5

I have to say he was treated unfairly. Especially since now SA is calling out for specialist opener and he was very successful opener in ODIs:

Span Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s
1999-2006 43 43 6 1752 125* 47.35 2560 68.43 4 13 1 170 8

Sad really.

Dippenaar ****s all over Amla, no wonder he's devo he can't get a look into the national team.
TBH, there's really not much between them IMO. Both excellent at domestic-First-Class level, both relative failures in Tests. Dippenaar's failings were mostly temperamental, Amla's have been technical and temperamental. But Amla still has a chance (though I don't rate his chances of taking it particularly highly) to make a good Test career.
